Two accused of stealing electronics

Two juveniles were arrested Monday after police said they were seen stealing hundreds of dollars worth of electronics from two houses in the Fremont area.

Two officers checked out the area and found two boys ages 11 and 13 near the American Red Cross building in the 1200 block of Napoleon Street. 

With assistance from Fremont police detectives who happened to be in the area, police officers questioned the juveniles then spoke with residents in the area before they connected the kids with the crime.

Ty Conger said police found the two boys had walked into two houses — one in the 1400 block of Croghan Street and another in the 1800 block of McPherson Boulevard — and attempted to steal an estimated $700 worth of cash, tablets and other electronics. 

Conger said the property was accounted for and stored in evidence until the case is cleared. 

The juveniles were each charged with two counts of burglary, obstructing official business, criminal trespassing and possession of criminal tools. 

“Even if you leave your house during the day, it’s important to keep your doors and windows locked at all times,” Conger said. “You never know when someone is going to come by and try to get in. It only takes five minutes for someone to get in there and steal hundreds of dollars worth of valuables.”
